Domestico – Selvatico

Domestico - Selvatico — 1

With this event we open, at Casa col Forno, a series dedicated to awareness of a gaze on the domestic and the wild. The first day is devoted to the wild man and the wild woman: from the archetype to the inner drive towards nature.

Domestic — Wild

Two opposite adjectives, by now impossible to find in a pure state in the environment of our planet, and even less in our own lives.
Two poles between which culture has evolved, in the fundamental analysis of the human relationship with nature, outer and inner.
We will approach them through myths, archetypes, fashions, lifestyles, agricultural practices and other human activities, together with authors such as
Tavo Burat, Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Sean Penn and Eddie Vedder, Godfrey Reggio, Hayao Miyazaki, Henry David Thoreau, Masanobu Fukuoka, Jean Giono, Oreste Mattirolo, Libereso Guglielmi, Richard Mabey, Gian Piero Motti, Ermanno Olmi and many more.

We will also seek inspiration in the emblematic Alpine environment that will host these reflections, with a critique of its problems, based on everyday experience of farming, animal husbandry, social life and land management, particularly in the Susa Valley and the Pellice Valley. We will look for new points of view to understand both the failing relationship through which human beings are making the only planet they had to live on completely inhospitable, and the paradox of suffering under this model of development while being unable to do without it.
