Gianni Denitto. Live saxophone and electronic

Gianni Denitto, an eclectic saxophonist rooted in classical music, has flourished in the jazz world and finally blossomed in the synthesis of acoustic and electronic sounds. His exploration of different countries such as India, China, Nepal and Senegal on his previous album "Brain on a Sofa" has shaped his life experience and inspired his latest album "Kāla". Influenced by a two-year world tour, master classes at international conservatories and academies, and collaborations with musicians from different cultures and traditions, Gianni's soundscapes and musical research have found expression in "Kāla". This album serves as a musical and geographical journey, exploring the nuances of saxophone sounds and pushing the boundaries of world music.

The expedition links the darbuka of Morocco with the balafon of Dakar, weaving the melodies of Indian ragas with African-American jazz improvisation. "Kāla, which means "time" in Sanskrit, features six songs with the saxophone at the centre of this fusion of world music, electronics and jazz. Denitto's album traverses traditional African sounds in 'Touki Bouki', captures the rarefied atmosphere of northern Europe in 'Tillsammans' and strikes a balance between traditional sounds and the underground scene of new China in 'Air China'.
