13 June, 5:30 PM — We open the exhibition "Il Quaderno di Rorà" ("The Rorà Notebook"), a work by Nicola Bertasi at the intersection of photography, archival research and text. The exhibition will be open to visit until 4 July.
"Look once more at your mountains, for you will never see them again." These words, taken from the 1686 Memoirs of Bartolomeo Salvagiot, run through the exhibition like a threshold. They speak of exile, persecution, loss and resistance. They also speak of Rorà: a small village that holds many stories.
Nicola Bertasi was in residence in Rorà in 2021 and 2022, collecting interviews and conducting research at the Archive of the Waldensian Church and the Terracini family archive.
Nicola Bertasi, born in 1983, lives in Milan. He is an independent photographer and visual artist, with a humanist background and a Master's degree in Modern History. His work has been exhibited in several galleries and festivals. His main projects include Like Rain Falling from the Sky, dedicated to the memory of the war in Vietnam, and The Pandemic Papers, a fictional journey through a surreal archive.
After the opening there will be a convivial gathering with music curated by Matt Carraldo. Free entrance, voluntary donations in support of the association are welcome.
