Jane Sharvina. Change of State

State is… Position… Nation… Condition…

War changes the state of every person — from state of being, status, location, our consciousness. People die and people kill; those that remain, do not remain the same.

Jane Sharvina (born in 1982) is an independent artist currently based in Moscow. After nearly 20 years of working in visual effects in Los Angeles, including earning an Emmy in 2013, she returned to Russia to pursue her private art practice. Her work spans surreal paintings and drawings, digital animation, sound, and light and shadow installations.
At Stone Oven House, Jane is developing an ephemeral light and sound installation, presented for the first and only time. This project, rooted in the transformative nature of war and personal identity, challenges perceptions of state and self, evoking both tension and catharsis.
