Che Cine a Rorà – screening of Maske!

MASKE! is a film — an audiovisual storytelling journey inspired by traditional tales of the masche, the legendary witches deeply rooted in Piedmontese and Pinerolese folklore, reinterpreted through tangible materials such as puppets and marionettes. It’s an interactive and profound way to explore contemporary themes connected to the everyday experiences of the children who took part in the project.

One film, four stories, four classes, four seasons, and four lunar phases. A circular structure of numbers, themes, and cycles. Fairies, healers, witches, masche. A lively, solar, and joyful narrative ecosystem that is also dark, nocturnal, and mysterious — telling stories of ecology, tradition, and imagination, where children play a central role, and where cinematic language merges with literature and puppet theatre.

The fourth-grade students of Parri and Costa schools (IC 4 Pinerolo) participated in the script writing, created the puppets and sets, and were involved in the film production, including recording the voices and songs for each story.

A project realized within the framework of the National Plan “Cinema and Images for Schools,” promoted by MIC and MIM.

Stone Oven House hosted a public screening and meeting with some of the project participants as part of the CheCine a Rorà film series.
