Illustrated Cartography Workshop with Marina Demchenko

On November 10, as part of Casa col Forno’s Creative Sunday Brunch, an illustrated cartography workshop was held under the guidance of Marina Demchenko.

Participants explored the art of map-making, learning how to transform geography into a visual narrative. With Marina’s guidance, each person created a personal map inspired by meaningful locations, blending elements of nature, architecture, and personal memory.

Using techniques such as watercolor, ink, pencils, and markers, attendees developed their own styles and compositions, discovering how maps can function not only as practical tools but as deeply personal storytelling devices. The workshop emphasized an intuitive, creative approach to cartography—where mapping becomes a reflection of emotions, history, and a connection to place.

By the end of the session, each participant left with a unique, hand-crafted map—an artistic keepsake that captured their personal journey and relationship with space. This experience demonstrated how illustrated cartography is not just about orientation, but about identity, storytelling, and artistic interpretation.
