On October 27, Stone Oven House hosted an evening of poetry and sound featuring Chilean poet Enrique Morales. His poem Furia y Despegue was sonified by Diego Mometti and interpreted in Italian by Federico Basso.

A powerful reflection on the brutality of the 1973 Chilean military coup, Furia y Despegue captures the end of the Unidad Popular dream and the beginning of one of the most violent dictatorships of the 20th century. Morales channels personal memory and historical rupture, evoking the echoes of suppressed voices, where poetry itself becomes an act of resistance.

The poem was accompanied by sonification built from clandestine audio recordings of the military coup’s operational phase—radio intercepts of commands, shouts, and the chilling laughter of those carrying out the coup. These sounds were treated as raw material, an unsettling noise-scape that served as a fragile yet powerful counterpoint to the poet’s words.

A striking performance where poetry and sound merged, leading the audience through an intense listening experience—one that resonated as both a tribute to memory and a call to confront history.
