Screening of The Witness Trauma by Taya Zubova at Stone Oven House

Witness Trauma. Film screening and meeting with director Taya Zubova

Witness Trauma is a film about people who spoke out against the war in Ukraine and were forced to flee Russia. Each of the film's heroes tells of the struggle for a future without tyranny and fear of being imprisoned by denunciation or mobilised to the front. Today their fate is different, but each of the heroes has preserved the most important thing - mercy, human dignity and freedom.
The heroes of the film "Trauma of a Witness" - Yulia, Kirill, Ilya, Inna, Alevtina - fled at the very beginning of the war. A photographer (her husband took his grandmother and mother through Bucha during the filming), an opposition journalist, a manager, an anthropologist and a volunteer - ordinary people with no connections and little savings.

At the time of filming, they were in Istanbul, trying to find their way out of a liminal state where a return to the old home is no longer possible and a new home does not yet exist. Millions of Russians who spoke out against the war now find themselves in a similar situation.

In order to stimulate an open and free discourse against the war in Ukraine, the film crew is organising a series of meetings and screenings. The film has already toured 8 countries and 15 cities.
